THE HEYLOBUDDY PLAYBOOK

Black-HoleRules, tips & a good first game.

Every number is a commitment. Fill a triangular board and try to keep your biggest numbers away from the one circle that will remain empty.

YOUR CONTROLS

Tap an empty circle on your turn. The game places your next number automatically; you choose its location.

The two-player board

The classic six-row triangle has 21 circles. Each player places the numbers 1 through 10 in ascending order. Twenty placements leave one empty circle: the black hole. Other player-count settings adjust the setup, so read the board summary before starting.

Score the neighbors

Only your numbers directly connected to the empty circle count against you. Connections include the circles beside it and along the diagonal grid lines, up to six neighbors in total. Add those neighboring values. The player with the lowest total wins.

A scoring example

Suppose the black hole touches your 2, 5, and 9, and your opponent’s 4 and 6. Your score is 16 and theirs is 10, so your opponent wins. Numbers elsewhere on the board contribute nothing to the final score.

Plan without committing too early

Small early numbers can make safer neighbors for a future hole. Watch how each placement reduces the remaining choices. Keep more than one candidate hole in mind; an opponent can fill the empty circle you were relying on.

Ways to play

Choose the computer for solo practice, pass one device around for a local match, or share an online room. Online rooms last 24 hours. The board shows which player moves next, so wait for that indicator before selecting a circle.

A couple of good questions

Do I choose which number to play?

No. Your numbers rise in order. The strategic choice is where to place the next number.

Do all my numbers count?

Only numbers joined directly to the final black hole count.
